I'd love to hear about what people get involved, during and after the MA.

I did most of my work on online autobiographical/life writing ideas. I haven't done much in the creative new media line since then, except for a site for new managers (yes I know, boring, but it's the day job after all) but have read and run workshops about the personal benefits of memoir writing, and written a course in Moodle for the New Curiosity Shop (who are looking for writers by the way)

What are other people doing?

Hi Jo

I'm trying to get my site crissxross.net organised. I've uploaded two of my CWNM works (I want to redevelop my dissertation project) but really the site needs a complete redesign. I'm still creating remixes for remixworx.net - in fact I'll be posting a new piece there today - and I've embarked on another collaboration, writing a serial work of speculative fiction online.

To earn a living, as part of Make It Happen, I'm also working with the Moodle system, creating e-learning material and/or setting up learning environments for various voluntary sector clients.

Christine, please own up ... go on ... you have several clones, don't you?
I am constantly gobsmacked by how much you can achieve, and in so little time.
I have just got back from New York and Mexico, am completely jetlagged, and have a zillion things I would love to get cracking on, but have decided to give myself some recovery time before I plunge into anything too serious.
Thank you for setting up the Ning for us. A really great idea.
All the best with your projects, and do let me know where I can see Underbelly.
xx

Hi Mary - clone #3 speaking... I wish!!!! New York and Mexico... wow! It's all work and no play with me (my life has got to change!)

Underbelly is a work-in-progress - in it's current state it's a linear story that I'm not very happy with (it was never intended to be linear). Soon I'm going to start work on it again and totally redevelop it - but in the meantime I've made the dissertation version available to download from my crissxross work-in-progress page.

Hey Jo - great to hear from you! It certainly seems to have been aaaaages! x

Creatively, I am just bouncing ideas around at the moment, but in the real world I have been developing online customer services for the bus station - mostly communicating with students about the University services using a blog, Facebook and various university forums. Not sure my boss really understands what I am doing, but it seems to be getting a positive response!

I am also developing the training part of my dad's business (covering everything you never wanted to know about International Withholding Tax) also using Moodle (thanks to Christine, who converted me!) and still teaching English and Music, so I am managing to keep busy!

Hope you are well anyway! Speak soon :-) xXx

Hi Jo, would love to hear more about your workshops and will definitely check out Moodle and the New Curiousity Shop. Thanks for sharing. I am still trying to recover from the dissertation, but hope to start on some projects by the end of the month. I plan to set up my own site with a mix of audio, video, Machinima and manga work on.

xx

Well... at if:book we're making new media resources for schools, which I'm really excited about, and I'm hooking on blogging at www.bookfutures.blogspot.com. Toni will be working with me on design from January - she's doing a great redesign of Lost TIm in pageflip form too, and we're doing some teaching together at Spread the Word. I'm also hoping to be commissioning some nyoomeedja writing for that too...

I know what I want to write next for me: something about the recession of the 80s set in Sheffield where I lived then, and called, with lots of irony ofcourse, "The Wealth of My Experience".
I got very inspired, had lots of ideas then... haven't found the time. I need the pressure of the module deadline I fear.
Good to hear from you Jo and hope you're enjoying it all.

Wow Chris... nice that you get to work with Toni! Also I like the idea of writing about the 80's recession. It's very timely. Christine I'll check out underbelly....And Jo I love the title: New Curiosity Shop :-) I'll check the link out :-)

On my end I just finished a live performance as a part of the Double Bind series at Panoplie. http://2008.panoplie.org/#/ I broadcast live RSS and then simultaneously transcribed them into generic statements like: "They say they were released /They say they have chosen a new leader /They say the protests have not stopped /They say he threw it at him in anger / They say they will have to vote on it / They say the government didn't do enough /

This went on for 30 minutes to the soundtrack of a heartbeat. The whole experience was extremely challenging. It's quite something to negotiate two live streams plus a live chat. I was nervous as hell, but nonetheless learned A LOT about "live / performative writing". Now what's next? I don't know.....

will update ...

kisses to everyone!

Hello...

I'm putting it all to good use working on an if:book project with Chris.

I did a short stint back in the call centre, 4 months, and continued my call centre diaries, which I then turned into a book using blurb.com, which I then sold to my colleagues.

I met up with Alison a few hours ago and talked about some plans for some things....

I was just looking at your life writing ideas link and my eyes were straight away drawn to picture of the art deco house.

I thought, "I know that house."

I used to live in Amersham until I was ten. I regularly walked past the house and was always curious about it. It was often the setting for the stories I used to make up!

How amazing! In fact I got the picture from Flickr. The man whose pic it was was very fond of those houses and was very willing for me to use one!

They were quite famous, apparently. Modernist. They were called Sun Houses, built in the 30's
