I'm online a lot, but in a fairly non-creative way. I use facebook, and a couple of email lists. I host a forum (fitbug.com) and keep on working on the new managers site (which now has 40 non-paying members - payment starts in March/April).
I find that I'm getting less and less tech-able as I get older. Can't remember how to use Dreamweaver but stick to Contribute and get other younger people to do the legwork. I keep looking for a course on something such as Dweaver or Flash.
I feel as if I'm skating on the surface. In the same way I used to be able and willing to change the wheel with a puncture - now I don't even know where the spare wheel is!
Its funny... I just finished writing a blog post about what I have been doing in my digital life recently! Unfortunately it hasn't been exactly creative (hopefully I will get time to do some creative work again soon... she says wistfully) but it has involved using a lot of the stuff I learnt on the MA, and meeting local technology geek people, which was great!
If you want to take a look, the post is here. Would love to hear any comments anyone might have!
I had found people complaining about the buses in groups on Facebook and answered them (which surprisingly made them all go very quiet!). When I launched the bus station Twitter feed and blog, I promoted these to those groups and got a small number of followers (actually, only 4 people following us via Twitter). When the snow started to cause havoc, these 4 people spread the word and the whole thing grew virally. We now have around 350 followers.
Now I am promoting Twitter through the blog and in my communications with the students via their own forums. Most of the users are students, academics and IT professionals, but there are also some ordinary people and even bus drivers using it to stay in touch - as well as the local rag and local radio station.
